A potted history
Yarm is the oldest Octagonal church in current use in Methodism. Originally built as a single storey in 1763, under the leadership of a prominent local businessman, George Merryweather, and through the encouragement of John Wesley, who was a frequent visitor and preacher at Yarm.
The church was extended in 1815 with a second storey added with a gallery, a School Hall in 1892, the Organ Loft in 1896 and a new meetings room in 1963.  A number of changes to the entrance have been made over the years, the last in 1996 forming a single enclosed hall joining the Church and School Hall.

Finding us: Ample parking is available in Yarm High Street. From the High Street take the wynd that runs between the Three Cooks and the NatWest Bank. We can be found at the end of the wynd on the left hand side.

There are a limited number of parking spaces next to the church for disabled users, the elderly and parents with toddlers. Turn down the wynd next to Boots and turn left at the bottom to access these spaces.
