Revd. Janet Capstick
Welcome to what was once a bank and now is a church!
We’re part of the shopping centre in the old village, and serve a large residential area in Old Billingham, south of the railway line.
We’re a small but friendly congregation of all ages; there’s a good family atmosphere, and all who come are assured of a warm welcome.
Our Mission Statement
“We pray that we will share our faith, friendship and hope with everyone we can.”
Usual service times:
Sundays 11am
Activities, groups and meetings
There’s a very popular coffee morning every Saturday. We have a children’s “Sunday Club”, a Girls Brigade company, a parent and toddler group, and a fellowship for women.
A potted history
From 1932 to 1989 Methodism in Billingham was centred in a large central hall on the Village Green. It was for many years a very active congregation, with a wide range of work with young people.
Because of structural problems that church building was closed. The congregation worshipped for a couple of years ion the parish church, but sought a much smaller building more suited to the needs of the present day church family. We found that in a carefully refurbished bank which has been home to us ever since, and a good centre for our worship and fellowship and service to the community.
