The Newtown Church Family is in a new home. Since 2nd October 2004 we have been sharing the St Paul’s Church building. The two congregations, Anglican and Methodist, have committed themselves to praying and working and witnessing together in this community. We now share two acts of worship a month. Second Sunday, United Communion, alternately Anglican or Methodist led. Fourth Sunday, All Age Worship service. Through this we grow closer together as we seek God's purposes for the LEP. Every Sunday both congregations also enjoy a shared time of fellowship over coffee; it symbolises our eagerness to grow together.

Our Mission Statement
“To maintain an inclusive church with open doors working to demonstrate Christ’s love by our deeds within the community.”

Usual service times:
Sundays 10:45am    weekly
Wednesday 9:30am Midweek communion (Anglican led service)

When there is a Fifth Sunday in the month, we have a Songs of Praise at 4pm.

Activities, groups and meetings
We share in an Emmaus fellowship every fortnight.
We have begun a monthly LEP House Fellowship also. Venue does change from month to month

A potted history
Our previous home was a the corner of Bishopton Road and Green Lane. It was opened in 1914 as a Primitive Methodist Chapel, and it remained a centre of worship and witness for 90 years. Not long before we moved, we had the joy of celebrating our 90th anniversary.

Over the years there was a faithful congregation and a strong and lively involvement in work with young people (Sunday School, Brownies, Shell Group, Youth Club, Eisteddfod). There have been evolving links with other denominations along the way and with New U2”, church and community partnership. This all culminated with the signing of the sharing agreement and in the opportunity of working in a new Community Resource Centre.
